Volunteer Firefighter
The Whistle, listen to it as it blows.
What the call is, no one knows.
Running. Running. Try to catch the truck.
Adrenaline pumping. All I have is luck.
Get to the station. Throw on my gear.
Is it someone I know? Hold back the tear.
Sirens blaring. Lights shining.
At this speed, we'll make perfect timing.
Get to the house, flames ripping.
Everyone in a hurry, someone tripping.
Hook up the hose, grab the ladder.
Not fast enough, chief's getting madder!
Throw on bottles; throw on masks.
Everyone is given important tasks!
Hours pass, flames go down.
Listen as sighs of relief fill the town.
Pack everything up. Casualties - Zero.
As each person rides away, they know they're a hero.
When will the whistle blow again?
It's all part of our volunteer campaign.
